A MacArthur Genius Grant recipient, Maloof has had his iconic rocking chairs shown at the Smithsonian; he also designed the chairs that were used on-camera at the history-changing Nixon/Kennedy debates. Visitors can see some of this furniture, as well as the wide-ranging collection of arts-and-craft pieces that he and his wife of 50 years, Alfreda, amassed together. The garden, which he tended, and the house are both open for tours; if you ask, you might be able to peek into the workshop, where he continued building until his death in 2009 at the age of 93. Billing itself as an “Austin-style beer garden,” Katy Trail Ice House has a 50-foot-long bar with 50 beers on tap, natch. It draws crowds thanks to the spacious tree-shaded backyard, which is voted one of the best patios in the city year after year. The bar is situated on the 3.5-mile Katy Trail, which connects downtown Dallas to Southern Methodist University and University Park, making it a great pop-in during a walk along the trail.
Katy Perry Is Selling Her L.A. Mansion for Nearly $20 Million After Relocating to Montecito
Perry and Bloom's new home is a 7,167-square-foot property that was initially listed for $16.25 million. It was built in 1934 and boasts six bedrooms, 12 bathrooms and sits on 8.9 acres, the real estate source told PEOPLE. Visit this 1818 home to see what life was like in California when it was still governed by Mexico. This is the oldest standing residence in the city, built by wealthy cattle rancher Francisco Avila, whose extensive 4,439-acre land grant covered much of Beverly Hills and the Miracle Mile district. Though visitors only see about half of the original house, it’s well-preserved with an interesting mix of Spanish, Mission and ranchero influences. Dallas Morning News real estate editor Steve Brown broke the news on the 10-acre development yesterday.

Review: Katy Trail Ice House
Bright, crisp afternoons are begging to be spent on the patio of the Katy Trail Ice House. On a sunny Saturday, throw on some shades and wander over to this casual, Austin-style joint. PEOPLE confirmed the 37-year-old singer has listed the 5,427-square-foot home with Brett Lawyer of Hilton & Hyland for a whopping $19,475,000.
Where would we be without those energetic civic boosters that built Los Angeles? The prolific Charles Fletcher Lummis founded the Southwest Museum, was an editor at the Los Angeles Times, and still managed to design this house (the name of which means “the Sycamore” in Spanish) on the banks of the Arroyo Seco. Its exterior is made almost entirely from river rock and the interior is heavily influenced by Pueblo Indian dwellings.

Fans of today’s DIY movement will appreciate the rustic Craftsman charm of this home, which is furnished with hand-crafted wood pieces; it’s interesting to see how closely modern-day bohemian design mirrors that of Lummis House. The Historical Society of Southern California is now headquartered here, and it holds several Sunday afternoon programs a year, as well as an annual holiday open house in December. Perhaps Perry is finally set to move into the convent in Los Feliz, California, that she purchased earlier this year after a long legal battle with the nuns who occupied it. The new bar is one of two Katy Trail Ice House-related projects in North Texas right now. Cramer and his team are also building a $7 million beer garden in Allen. While it’s expected to look and feel like a sibling restaurant to Katy Trail Ice House, it isn’t an extension of that existing bar, with its picnic tables and shade trees in a backyard setting.
"They were looking for a house for a while before they put in an offer. They are very excited about their new house. It comes with a lot of history and a gorgeous ocean view." In the main home, the entire second floor is dedicated to the master suite, and the enormous master bath features a soaking tub directly in the center, beneath a skylight. Outside, there's a pool, cabana with spa, fireplace, and fountain, not to mention that the property is surrounded by two acres of gardens with fruit trees, an amphitheater, and multiple terraces. Katy Trail Ice House in Plano is doubling in size by fall 2022.

Welcome To Katy Trail Ice House
The owners of Katy Trail Ice House in Uptown Dallas announced that they will build another bar and add much-needed parking spaces near the original beer garden. If you haven't already, then it's time to venture to the Katy Trail Ice House located in Uptown Dallas just off the actual Katy Trail (well named, I know). A beer garden with a woodsy vibe, the indoor-outdoor Ice House opened in March to a Dallas crowd positively obsessing over the relaxed down home atmosphere.

Neutra was something of a control-freak as a designer—he made recommendations to his clients that included the ideal flowers to display, and would occasionally make unannounced visits to see how, exactly, people were living in his homes. This remodel retains Neutra’s clarity of vision and is still a stunner. Today, this glass-walled paragon of modern design overlooking the Silver Lake Reservoir is an active part of LA’s design community and home to occasional art installations. Each Saturday, students in Cal Poly Pomona’s architecture program lead half-hour tours. Pasadena may think it owes much of its traditional Arts and Crafts style to Charles and Henry Greene, the brothers and architects responsible for designing many of the city’s landmark buildings, but really, they should be honoring Thomas Greene, the architects’ father. He was the one who decided on their profession, sending them off to MIT and then demanding they move out to Pasadena once they graduated.
Get the barbecue plate or the burger, and always a side of fries. The Katy Trail is a privately-maintained public park that extends 3.5 miles from SMU at its north end to the American Airlines Center in the south. Katy Trail Ice House is a restaurant located on the trail where people of all ages, genders, and types gather to drink cold beer, eat good food, and play a few games.
When the home was finished in 1929, it cost a reported $3M, making it the most expensive private home in the city at the time. From tract homes to Case Study Houses, Southern California has always been at the forefront of residential home design (even Ice Cube knows it). Whether you’re interested in local history, celebrity digs or plain old house porn, we’ve got a spot for you.
So get off the beaten museum track and check out these landmark architectural homes, all within a few mile radius and (mostly) open to the public. The four-bed, six-bath home is super-private, set back behind a long, gated rock driveway. Built in 1954, the property is actually comprised of four separate structures, including a Mediterranean-style main house, a two-story guest house (with a garage big enough to fit a limousine), a designated fitness building, and a security guardhouse. Sounds like this mansion was tailor-made for the celebrity lifestyle—perhaps the next owner will be just as famous.
Cramer is pumping $3.2 million into a development project to expand the patio into the parking lot and build a pavilion. “You’re going to really feel like you’re out in the country,” Cramer says. Owner Buddy Cramer, developer Ray Washburne and real estate broker Newt Walker have been working on the deal, which is on the south side of State Highway 121 between Alma Drive and Custer Road in Allen, since 2017.
