In the 1980s, Fort Lauderdale was a popular spring break destination. The city took careful measures to reallocate the spring breakers to other parts of Florida, and put their focus on attracting tourism from other sources. Fort Lauderdale’s makeover from a spring break town to a sunny, year-round destination for relaxing and family-friendly vacations was successful. Today, Fort Lauderdale continues efforts to revitalize its downtown and arts community, maintain its beautiful beaches, and seamlessly serve the area’s massive cruise economy. Alternatively, passengers can choose to fly out of the Miami International Airport (MIA).

Cruise Travel Insurance Plan

One is that you can maximize the length of your trip cancellation coverage. For example, if you buy a travel insurance policy three months before your departure and get seriously injured a week before you leave, you can file a trip cancellation claim. Cruise insurance can be any travel insurance policy that has the coverage features you want. It does not have to be a travel insurance policy with “cruise” in the policy name. It’s helpful to have missed connection coverage included in a cruise insurance policy, as the cost of catching up to a cruise can be significant.

Claims

This site does not include all credit card companies or all available credit card offers that are on the market. See our advertising policy here where we list advertisers that we work with, and how we make money. A comprehensive travel insurance plan with superb coverage and service from start to finish. Credit card travel insurance usually covers cruise trips and the travel you book to and from your port of call.

Optional Coverages for an Additional Fee

Knowing you have evacuation insurance when you’re traveling to a remote area on safari, for example, could be tremendously reassuring, even if you never use the coverage. Another important factor to consider is COVID-19 protection, as not all insurance plans include it. You will want to consider what happens if you get sick before the sailing or onboard since you may have to find accommodation if you are not able to travel for a period of time. Travel medical insurance can cover medical expenses you incur while on and off the ship. But if your excursions involve adventure activities or extreme sports, be aware that many travel policies exclude these from coverage. Still, there are adventure travel policies and optional upgrades that will cover injuries due to activities such as mountain climbing, parasailing, skydiving and hot air ballooning.

How to choose the best cruise travel insurance

Generali’s Premium policy provides very good benefits at a decent average price. It has excellent trip interruption insurance and medical coverage, and includes generous benefits for rental car damage and accidental death. After you compare travel insurance companies, narrow down your options to policies that provide the amount of coverage you’re looking for.

Expenses incurred from third-party vendors for assistance services not part of a filed insurance plan are the responsibility of the traveler. Travel Guard’s Deluxe Plan includes our highest benefit limits for our offered coverages. Traveling seniors may find travel medical expense and emergency evacuation coverage to be the most reassuring when taking a cruise. As a rule of thumb, you can expect to pay between 5% and 10% of your prepaid, nonrefundable trip expenses for cruise insurance coverage. The price will vary depending on factors like your age, your travel destination, and whether you require additional coverage.

If you’re concerned about COVID-19 derailing your cruise travel plans, getting cruise travel insurance with COVID-19 coverage is essential. The battleface Discovery Plan covers COVID-19 cancellation and medical expenses, along with regular trip cancellation, medical evacuation, and medical emergency coverage. There are many options for travel insurance, and you can generally choose as little or as much coverage as you’d like. You can opt for a comprehensive travel insurance policy, which may offer Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) coverage, or you might prefer to limit your costs and choose just the coverage you need.

At its core, cruise insurance is your financial lifeboat, designed to protect you from unforeseen events that could disrupt your sea voyage. Whether it's a sudden illness, adverse weather, or other unexpected occurrences, having the right insurance can make a world of difference. You can choose between the Trip Protection Basic or Trip Protection Choice plans, with the higher-tier Choice plan costing more but providing more coverage. Even a meticulously planned cruise can run into unforeseen disruptions — and cruise insurance can come in handy for the unexpected.

Get online quotes from the company websites and compare the different packages they offer. Because that’s where you’ll discover what a policy does and doesn’t cover. With a range of pricing and coverage options available, you can feel confident that you can find a policy to suit your travel needs.

For example, you might be able to rebook a flight or hotel room, but if you cancel your cruise, you could lose your deposit or more. Often, cruise lines won’t offer any refunds if you cancel within a certain period before your cruise, such as 14 or 30 days. Taking a cruise is one of the easiest ways to travel, but cruising isn’t immune to unexpected hiccups. Sudden illness, travel delays, or other unforeseen events could cancel or interrupt your cruising plans — you might even need medical coverage. In addition, if you need medical insurance coverage during your trip, you won’t find that coverage on a credit card or with the airlines — you’ll need to purchase it.

Still, you should check the details of your credit card’s coverage to ensure it’s enough for your needs. We were quoted $100.50 for a 55-year-old cruising Alaska for John Hancock Insurance Agency’s Silver plan, which reimburses up to 75% of your trip cost under Cancel for Any Reason coverage. It also offers coverage for COVID-19 medical and cancellation, trip cancellation and interruption, and medical expenses and evacuation with primary coverage. AXA Assistance USA offers three travel insurance plans, each with its own level of protection, with the Silver Plan being the most affordable of the options. Based on the sample above, the Silver Plan costs 2.83% of the total trip expenditures, which is much lower than the industry standard (usually between 4 to 10%). Keep in mind that your exact premium may be higher depending on your age and trip cost, among other factors.

That said, one of the best cards for cruise bookings is the Chase Sapphire Reserve®. It offers insurance for trip delays, trip cancellation/interruptions, baggage delays, lost baggage, rental cars, emergency medical and dental, emergency evacuation and travel accidents. It also earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points, which are a valuable type of travel reward you can use to book cruises, flights and rental cars. Cruise insurance normally costs 3% to 8% of the cost of the cruise, but can be higher if you opt for expensive add-ons, such as CFAR coverage. It's important to shop around to ensure you're getting the coverage you need, the right coverage limits for your trip and the best price. Before you purchase a separate cruise insurance plan, make sure your trip isn't already covered by your credit card or any other travel insurance you may have.

A “sale” is the exchange of personal information for payment or other valuable consideration and includes certain advertising and analytics practices. “Sharing” means the disclosure of personal information for behavioral advertising purposes, where the information used to serve ads is collected across different online services. Securing the best cruise insurance isn't just about finding the best price; it's about ensuring it covers all your potential needs. In addition, travelers can take advantage of AXA's concierge service, which provides an extensive network of international service providers.

On this 5 Night Western Caribbean sailing, the ship will visit a total of 3 different cruise port destinations, including its departure port. The Disney Dream sets sail on a Sunday (March 31, 2024) and returns on a Friday (April 5, 2024). On this 5 Night Bahamas With 2 Stops At Disney Castaway Cay sailing, the ship will visit a total of 4 different cruise port destinations, including its departure port.

Upon returning for another month-long stint between March and April, the ship will sail cruises ranging from four to seven nights to the western Caribbean during the popular spring break period. The Disney Dream will begin early 2024 with an assortment of cruises to the Bahamas and western Caribbean. Please note, the port order may be different and will be adjusted once the full detailed itineraries are available to view on Disney Cruise Line’s website. There are a number of conflicts at Castaway Cay that will be resolved once the actual itineraries for each sailing are revealed.

Disney Cruises March 2024

Disney Cruise Line offers a variety of cruises from Miami in March 2024. Because of the rising temperatures and low possibility of precipitation, March is one of the best months for a cruise in the Bahamas and Caribbean. Weather-wise, with average daytime highs of 83 degrees Fahrenheit in the south islands and lows of 73 degrees Fahrenheit in the northern islands, it's hard to beat March in the Caribbean.

Special Pricing

Beginning January 2, 2024, the Disney Dream will offer a mix of Bahamian and Western Caribbean sailings in a continuation of her fall offerings. Disney Cruise Line is loading the early 2024 sailings so this remains a work in progress and will be updated multiple times today. Below is the copy of the press release issued along with the new sail dates. Please note, the offers listed are not to be taken as official quotes.

Along with the first sailings to Lighthouse Point, families will be able to choose magical vacations to bucket-list destinations that include the Mediterranean, northern Europe, Alaska and the Caribbean. Below, I’ve collected the opening day pricing, lowest price per stateroom category, based on double occupancy (2 adults) for all of the new Disney Cruise sailings to provide a general idea on where the cruises are priced. I realize this does not take into account onboard booking, or a more detailed quote for your sailing party. While Early 2024 dates were announced today, general booking will not open until Thursday December 15th.

In the rare event that the ship visits Castaway Cay or Lighthouse Point two days in a row, the ship will not stay docked overnight. It will leave the island at the usual time on the first day and come back the next morning. Guests are encouraged to bring their costumes and participate in the costume celebration held in the ship’s atrium. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique offers special makeovers on Star Wars Day at Sea.

A U.S. Military service member (or spouse) must sail to take advantage of this offer. Army Reserve must also show active duty orders (active duty papers must be dated as of January 1st of the previous year to qualify). A Disney Cruise is an exceptionally personal vacation that allows your family to customize the trip that fits what you want and need. The Disney Wish will sail its inaugural season of three- and four-night cruises to Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, from its new home port of Port Canaveral, Florida. One last note, the pricing below is representative of a snapshot in time on opening day. As cruises book, prices will increase and stateroom availability will dwindle.

In addition, early bookers get first dibs on staterooms, making it the best way to land one of the hardest-to-get staterooms like the Secret Porthole and Secret Verandah rooms. Lots of people know about these advantages, so on the days the new itineraries become available for booking, both the phone lines and website get slammed. Unfortunately, because Disney provides so many different ships and opportunities, it is difficult to narrow down the exact price that a cruise will cost your family.

Offers may be applied to existing bookings if requested by caller. This offer cannot be combined with any other special offer or discounts, or onboard credits. The Disney Dream features the most sailings at 15, the Disney Magic follows with 6, along with the Disney Fantasy and Disney Wonder with 4 sail dates. Currently, there are no offers listed for the Disney Wish, or the Disney Treasure.

Children’s rates are also available to guests ages 3 through 12 that are travelling with 2 adults in the same stateroom. Jessica is a full-time high school teacher and a part-time writer. When she isn't working, she loves to take vacations with her family to Disney. Travel Agencies can also offer promotions if you book through them in the form of Shipboard Credit. While on the ship, you can use this credit for spa treatments, merchandise, photos, and more.

The March 25, 2024 cruise on the Disney Magic departs from Galveston, Texas. On this 6 Night Western Caribbean sailing, the ship will visit a total of 3 different cruise port destinations, including its departure port. The Disney Magic sets sail on a Monday (March 25, 2024) and returns on a Sunday (March 31, 2024).

The Punchliner Comedy Club will have the whole family laughing with both all-ages and adult-only stand-up comedy shows on offer. There’s also a casino, a huge water park (the largest in the extensive Carnival fleet), and of course the first roller coaster at sea. For those athletically inclined, the SportSquare multi-purpose court hosts soccer games, basketball, and more. And the stellar Playlist Productions, which put on theatrical shows and make up the Center Stage Band, provides an opportunity to be dazzled or get your dance shoes on, depending on the performance. Like the Vista-class Carnival liners, Mardi Grass has Havana staterooms with a patio (indoor-outdoor space) with direct access to an exclusive Sundeck area with loungers, Bar and swimming pool.

Rudi’s Seagrill™ is the brainchild of cookbook author and master chef Rudi Sodamin. He has years of experience pleasing palates of vacationers… and this guy loves serving up a smile as much as Carnival does! But he’s serious about seafood, and an evening at Rudi’s proves it through the courses. Enjoy selections like seafood bisque and crab-stuffed lobster tail imperial — all served with an elegant flair that pays proper tribute to the beauty of the ocean from which so much fun, and flavor, arises. If you’ve strolled along New Orleans’ French Quarter in the evening, you’re not alone in feeling that mysteries and surprises lie around every corner. A French Quarter-styled zone on a new ship wouldn’t be complete without an unassuming little bar that feels like it’s always been there.

Mardi Gras continues Carnival’s trend of family focus and includes numerous kid-friendly activities, including Dr. Seuss Bookville and Camp Ocean. Entertainment choices include lavish production shows and a high-energy casino with slots, blackjack, poker and roulette. Dance the night away or just listen to live bands and DJs while at the jazz club, piano bar and disco, among other musical hot-spots.

Street Eats is a new dining concept in Carnival Cruise Line, located on Lido Deck 16 around Mardi Gras’ Beach Pool area. Inspired by food trucks and street eateries, Street Eats consists of three open-air counter-service stalls — Steam Dream, Mad Sizzle, and Time Fries. Barbecue lovers should head down to Deck 8 for excellent smoked meats, comfort food sides, and a home-brewed beer at Guy Fieri’s other restaurant, Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse | Brewhouse. All meals at Guy’s Pig & Anchor are currently free of charge on Mardi Gras. There are tons of new specialty drinks and bars to try on this ship.

Here are offered full bar service, swimming pool, sunbathing area with cabanas, deckchairs and sun loungers available for rent. The cabanas are fully-stocked with beverages, chilled towels, plush bathrobes and provide dedicated concierge service with lunch delivery and fresh fruits. Carnival Excel Suite passengers enjoy priority cabana reservations. Ship's 2-deck-high Lido zone houses fleet's biggest "Guy's Burger Joint" (by Guy Fieri), the Mexican food bar BlueIguana Cantina, the New England-inspired Seafood Shack, and Lido Marketplace (ship's buffet restaurant). Other signature facilities in the area are Beach Pool (midship) and the infinity swimming pool Tides Pool (aft) with a bar, great stern views and ample seating.

Older kids, ages 9 to 11, can chill at pool parties and go on scavenger hunts. Young teens, ages 12 to 14, hang out together for late-night movies, nighttime swims, sports, the latest video games, and dance parties. Teens ages 15 to 17 gather in their own lounge area to play the latest video games, relax in comfy seats, dance on the state-of-the-art dance floors, and hang at the non-alcoholic drink bar.

The newcomers on this list, you may have noticed, include Rudi’s Seagrill, which is a chef-led restaurant that focuses on all things seafood. But, once the ship was constructed, it needed a home and this required additional construction. Carnival Mardi Gras cruise ship will be situated at Port Canaveral, in Florida, but in order to accommodate the ship, the port needed to build a new terminal. In 1995 was created Royal Olympic Cruise Lines as a merger of "Epirotiki Line" and "Sun Line".

We only just found out about the years he spent soaking up the sun among the grass skirts and frangipani flowers of the South Pacific where, he would tell you, it’s easy being red. You'll find some of his favorite recipes from those days on menu at the first-ever RedFrog® Tiki Bar — sip a Polynesian Punch, try a Jungle Bird, or get a little tongue-twisted ordering a Red's Rum Jumper. This poolside bar on Mardi Gras® spans two decks and transports you right to the land of Tiki. This zone also includes a SportSquare sports complex for active-minded passengers.

The canceled in early-July "Caribbean 2020" program was planned to start after the Transatlantic repositioning from Europe. Follows the complete list of Carnival Mardi Gras lounges, clubs and other entertainment venues for kids, teens, and adults. Follows the complete list of Carnival Mardi Gras restaurants and food bars. The boat has 18 decks, of which 15 are passenger-accessible and 11 with cabins. On January 25, 2019, was announced that the new Carnival XL-class vessel will have 6 themed zones (neighborhoods) - Grand Central, French Quarter, Lido-Pool, La Piazza, Summer Landing, The Ultimate Playground.

Don’t miss the incredible views at The Watering Hole in the Summer Landing Zone, and stop by the Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge while you’re in that area, too. Carnival will donate a portion of the sale to benefit Operation Homefront when you purchase a specialty cocktail or beer in a souvenir glass. Rudi Sodamin’s multi-course dining experience is phenomenal and well worth the $49 per-person charge.

Upon embarkation, all of the tips will have been paid in full, but many cruisers will carry extra cash to provide additional tips to their stateroom attendant and other crew members who provided exceptional service during their cruise. The Carnival crew has a stellar reputation as being some of the best at sea. You can expect towel animals nightly in the staterooms, twice-daily housekeeping, and smiles from everyone you interact with. The international crew, focused on helping passengers have the greatest cruise vacation possible, are also always eager to talk to guests young and old about their countries and life at sea. Casual dress is standard during the day on the Carnival Mardi Gras. Most restaurants, save for the buffet and casual quick bite destinations, expect guests to swap out their flip flops, tank tops, and hats at dinnertime.

The first one on everyone's list is the Carnival Mardi Gras roller coaster Bolt, the first roller coaster at sea -- a genuine thrill ride you need to try at least once. And then there's the Atrium, located on the side of the ship instead of the center, a placement that allows the space to have three-story sea views during the day and become a top-notch entertainment space at night. Rudi's Seagrill is another fleet-first dining venue (seafood restaurant by Rudi Sodamin / Holland America Line's Master Chef). Rudi's Seagrill is a specialty restaurant (at surcharge / reservation fee) located on Deck 8 (between Summer Landing and La Piazza) with indoor (80 seats) and outdoor seating (al fresco dining on The Lanai). The Seagrill offers appetizers, entrees and desserts, with all menu items presented as food faces.

Cruise Control: A Comprehensive Guide

Cruise Control: A Comprehensive Guide

Mastering the art of cruise control can significantly enhance your driving experience by reducing fatigue and maintaining a steady speed, especially on long road trips. This article will guide you through the intricacies of cruise control, from understanding its components to effectively engaging and disengaging the system.

Cruise control operates using a combination of sensors, actuators, and a computer to regulate your vehicle's speed. It allows you to release pressure from the gas pedal while maintaining the desired speed, giving your right foot a break and reducing strain on your legs.

If the prospect of using cruise control fills you with trepidation, fear not! This guide will demystify the process, empowering you to harness its benefits with confidence. We will address common concerns and provide step-by-step instructions to ensure a smooth and controlled driving experience.

Before engaging cruise control, it's crucial to ensure the road conditions are suitable. Avoid using cruise control in inclement weather, heavy traffic, or situations where rapid acceleration or deceleration may be necessary.

To activate cruise control, locate the cruise control stalk on your steering wheel or dashboard. Engage the system by pressing the "ON" or "SET" button. You can then adjust the desired speed by pressing the "+" or "-" buttons, typically located on the same stalk.

To disengage cruise control, simply tap the brake pedal or press the "OFF" or "CANCEL" button. You can also disengage the system by pressing the accelerator pedal, but this will not cancel the saved speed setting. If you wish to resume cruise control, you can press the "RES" or "RESUME" button to restore the previously set speed.

Tips

Tips, Cruises 10 1

To maximize the benefits of cruise control, keep these practical tips in mind:

Tip 1: Maintain a Safe Following Distance

When using cruise control, it's crucial to maintain a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. This distance will vary depending on speed and road conditions, but a general rule is to leave at least two seconds of following distance. This buffer provides ample time to react to unexpected situations and avoid collisions.

Tip 2: Be Aware of Your Surroundings

While cruise control can reduce driver fatigue, it's essential to remain alert and aware of your surroundings. Keep your eyes on the road and be prepared to intervene if necessary. Cruise control is not a substitute for safe driving practices.

Tip 3: Use Cruise Control Wisely

Cruise control is most effective on long, straight roads with consistent traffic flow. Avoid using cruise control in stop-and-go traffic or in areas with frequent speed changes. It's also not recommended to use cruise control in inclement weather or on slippery road surfaces.

Tip 4: Practice Makes Perfect

If you're new to using cruise control, it's a good idea to practice in a safe environment before using it on the highway. Find an empty stretch of road and familiarize yourself with the controls and how the system responds.

Closing Paragraph for Tips

By following these tips, you can enhance your driving experience with cruise control while maintaining safety and control. Remember, cruise control is a valuable tool when used appropriately, but it's always the driver's responsibility to operate the vehicle safely.

How Cruise Control Works

Cruise control operates using a combination of sensors, actuators, and a computer. The speed sensor monitors the vehicle's speed, while the actuator controls the throttle position. The computer receives input from the speed sensor and adjusts the throttle position to maintain the desired speed.

Cruise control systems typically include a variety of features, such as the ability to set and resume a desired speed, adjust the speed in increments, and cancel the system. Some systems also include adaptive cruise control, which can automatically adjust the vehicle's speed to maintain a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead.

Cruise control can be a valuable tool for drivers, especially on long road trips. It can help to reduce driver fatigue and improve fuel efficiency. However, it's important to use cruise control wisely and to be aware of the system's limitations.

Experience

Experience, Cruises 10 1

My first experience with cruise control was on a long road trip across the country. I was driving for hours on end and my leg was starting to get tired. I decided to give cruise control a try, and I was amazed at how much it helped. I was able to relax my leg and focus on the road, which made the drive much more enjoyable.

Since then, I've used cruise control on many road trips. It's a great way to reduce driver fatigue and make long drives more bearable. However, it's important to use cruise control wisely and to be aware of its limitations.

Here are a few things I've learned about cruise control over the years:

1. Cruise control is not a substitute for safe driving. You should always be aware of your surroundings and be prepared to intervene if necessary. Cruise control is not designed to handle sudden changes in speed or direction, so it's important to be alert and ready to take control of the vehicle.

2. Cruise control is most effective on long, straight roads with consistent traffic flow. Avoid using cruise control in stop-and-go traffic or in areas with frequent speed changes. It's also not recommended to use cruise control in inclement weather or on slippery road surfaces.

3. Practice makes perfect. If you're new to using cruise control, it's a good idea to practice in a safe environment before using it on the highway. Find an empty stretch of road and familiarize yourself with the controls and how the system responds.
